This address will consider the appropriate role of engineering and engineers in contributing to the future railway industry in a complex and changing world.
In doing so, he will consider what the broader economy and society appears to require of the rail sector and what rail can realistically offer back so as to remain relevant to politicians, funders, suppliers, end users and staff.

Richard is current Managing Director of Grand Central Rail. He joined the railway in 1982 and has undertaken a wide range of frontline railway engineering roles. In 2010, he was appointed as Managing Director of DB Regio Tyne and Wear and then Grand Central.
