Engtravaganza 2016

Tour of Tasmanian Transport Museum complete with Railcar Demonstration

Join our tour of the Tasmanian Transport Museum, including the chance to personally experience a ride on a 77-year old rail car equipped with a 153hp Gardner engine. The railcar which will be demonstrated was built by Waddingtons in New South Wales in 1939.

Some items of note in the transport museum collection include the only preserved vertical boiler locomotive in Australia, the oldest passenger carriage in Tasmania, and the first mainland diesel electric engine to run in Australia. Further details can be found here:

After the tour, we shall head to The Fish Bar in Bellerive for some delicious fresh seafood – everyone is more than welcome to join. Lunch at own cost, but the IMechE Young Member Section will cover the first round of drinks.

Limited places available – first come, first served!

Please book soon to reserve a place.

$5pp for IMechE members (young and not-so young)

$10pp for non-members

*These prices will only cover the museum entry, rail car ride and first round of drinks, not lunch
