East Midlands Region

There are about 8000 members in the East Midlands. For the Institution, the region covers Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Lincolnshire and Peterborough and its organisation comprises of a Regional Committee, Area Committees, Young Member Panels and two Divisional Groups.

Lara Mallett has been Business Development Manager for the East Midlands Region since 2005, acting as the Institution's primary link with the region's organisations, industry and academia to develop and support the engineering community whilst maintaining strong links with a network of key contacts. Get involved

There are many initiatives going on in this region and there are plenty of great opportunities for you to be involved. This includes for example becoming a mentor and sharing your experience to help others develop, running an event, or joining one of our committees.

    Claymills Victorian Pumping Station - Burton on Trent
    The Claymills Pumping Engines Trust will host a visit to tour the nineteenth century Claymills Pumping Station complex including all buildings, engines and equipment. The IMechE awarded an Engineering Heritage Award to the Trust in 2010.
