Programme for the 2019/2020 session

 The 2019-20 session promises to provide an interesting and varied 
selection of topics.
We plan to hold our meetings on the second  Wednesday of each month but this has not proved possible this session.

The session opener will be on Wednesday 11th September when Christine Fernandes, and  Kane Jellyman will talk about ‘CAF in the UK'  The Spanish rolling stock manufacturer has built trains for Ireland in the past and has just introduced its first in UK

On TUESDAY 8th October we will hold a joint meeting with the PWI on a subject TBC - please note the DAY of the week!

On MONDAY 4th November the new RD Chairman Graham Neil will present his Chairman's address - which will be about the current challenges facing the railway - please note the DAY of the week!

On THURSDAY 12th December, in joint meeting with DRES,, Magnus Conn,  New Trains Programme Director, Caledonian Sleeper, will present his paper ‘Bringing hotel quality to overnight travel to Scotland’ related to the new CAF sleeping cars on the route - please note the DAY of the week!

The New Year opens on Wednesday January 8th 2020 with a talk by Mike Castles, Global Technical Expert (GTE) Functional Safety about ‘Applying Common Safety Methods to Railway Projects’

The Future of Rail Presentation Competition will be held on Wednesday 12th February where we will hear 3 papers by local younger engineers

On Wednesday 11 March, Tom Godfrey, and Chris Parker, from Bombardier will talk about ‘Delivering ETCS: deploying Digital Signalling technologies in the UK’

On Wednesday 8th April Dave Horton will present ‘Vivarail: designing and building emission-free trains for the UK’
