As stated by Peter Hansford the chief construction advisor to UK government, “Infrastructure is created to meet the requirements of the end users. The real question about sustainable infrastructure is: how are we going to meet users’ needs in the long-term when everything points towards a resource-constrained future?”

In response to the challenge of population growth and the impacts of a changing climate, Anglian Water has successfully measured, managed and reduced the operational and capital carbon in assets built and delivered.
The journey in measuring, managing and reducing carbon will be explained together with some examples delivered over the last five years.

David Riley is the Carbon Manager within Anglian Water responsible for developing and implementing carbon mitigation strategies for one of the largest water companies in the UK and also chair of the Water UK Carbon Working Group.
