Miguel Gama has 14+ years’ experience in Control Engineering and 7+ years in Safety Critical Systems.

He is currently the Principal Engineer in charge of High Voltage Battery Systems at Williams Advanced Engineering. He is responsible for the development and delivery of High-Voltage Battery Systems for all Williams battery programmes, which covers design, implementation, simulation, testing and calibration of the various control systems required for effective integration of HV batteries into electric and hybrid electric propulsion systems.

He is also responsible for the definition of battery attributes, HV architecture and Battery Management Systems (BMS) specifications; BMS SW design, SoC and SoH algorithms; customer liaison and agreement of products time-lines and deliverables; definition of test procedures in line with a systems engineering approach; specification and development of test rigs and protocols to support the design validation and verification process; creation and dissemination of battery technology, which defines the technical strategy of future battery systems; and the preparation of technical proposals for electrical, power and control systems.




He is also highly involved in providing track-side technical support In the Formula E racing series and the Aston Martin Rapid E programme.

His previous employment includes Airbus (UK), where he researched and developed new controls for landing gear braking systems for the A320 and A380 aircraft, and Jaguar Land Rover as the Principal Engineer for Advanced Battery Controls; he was also involved in the design and delivery of the Range Rover Hybrid and the I-Pace fully electric vehicle.
