Support available in the East Midlands

Lara Mallett has been the Business Development Manager for the East Midlands Region since 2005. Acting as the IMechE’s primary link with organisations in industry and academia, her role is to develop and support the engineering community whilst maintaining strong links with a network of key contacts. In addition Lara also provides strategic guidance to the Active members via the regional committees.

Locally run workshops, seminars and events will introduce you to the IMechE and provide you with all the information you will need to know about professional registration.

Workshops can be tailored to suit the needs of a company and their employees and can be hosted in-house.

Lara can provide free of charge feedback on membership applications prior to submission and help you to prepare for Professional Review Interview, ensuring you stand the best possible chance of first time success.

The IMechE has join up with each of the three Armed Forces and now provides a simplified route to registration, via a streamlined application process. The relationship withe the Armed Forces is managed by Business Development Executive, Neil Hinchliffe, n_hinchliffe@imeche.org.

For further information on any of the above, if you would like Lara to visit your organisation, or to provide you with a review and feedback on your application she can be contacted on

Mentoring

If you are working towards professional registration but do not have a sponsor, we may be able to put you in touch with a mentor who can help and advise your professional development and guide you through the professional registration process.

If you are a professionally registered engineer in the East Midlands and would be willing to volunteer by mentoring a young engineer, please get in touch with Lara.

Company Based Registration

Company Based Registration is the perfect process for supporting an engineering team, within a company, through the professional registration process. The Institution offers a supported and aided scheme, which provides a Business Development Manager to your site to present the ‘benefits of’ and ‘how to’ regarding professional registration.

Suitable applicants will then be supported through the process step by step, with 1-2-1 advice sessions and interview preparation workshops.
An application review services from a Professional Development Consultant is also available.

Interviews for those who successfully progress through the application process can then be arranged on site, to ensure minimum disruption to business operation.

There is no cost for running the scheme described above. The only cost is the applicants' own application fee and annual membership subscription.

Support for Graduates and Apprentices

The Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS) is the Institutions, approved and quality controlled route for graduate engineers to complete their initial professional development and work towards successfully achieving Incorporated or Chartered status.

The IMechE offer our Members access to Career Developer, our suite of online reporting tools, were you will be able to log and keep a track of your development and competence even if you change employers.

The Institution approves advanced engineering apprentice training schemes within Companies, Colleges and Training providers. There is no fee for doing this and it will make the application process for your apprentices much more straightforward, as we’ll already know what skills and experience they have gained.
The aim being, to make it as simple as possible for apprentices to benefit from the extra endorsement of their skills that professional registration EngTech provides.

For more information on EngTech status and the scheme approvals contact Business Development Executive, Paul Tabern, at p_tabern@imeche.org
