Automobile Division Eastern Centre (formerly Luton AD)

The AD Eastern Centre (AD East) was formerly the Luton Centre.We organise a variety of events held mainly at
  • Cranfield University (Whittle Building, Gold Lecture Theatre) in Bedfordshire and
  • The University of Hertfordshire (Lindop Building) in Hatfield.
We welcome offers to host events at other sites - often related to the topic. Recent sites have included
  • Millbrook Proving Ground,
  • Nissan Technology Centre - Europe (Cranfield),
  • The Works -Aston Martin Lagonda (Newport Pagnell),
  • The Forest Centre (Marston Moretaine, Beds) and
  • The Off-Road-Dynamic Facility at the Centre for Automotive Technology (Cranfield University).

    Vincent Building Auditorium - Cranfield University - Cranfield
    Seven MSc student teams will present their design concepts for Hybrid F2 Sidecars to an audience including motorsport practitioners. The students will be competing for the Motorsport UK prize for the best presentation and the Racecar Engineering Prize for the best poster. The day includes a networking lunch and an opportunity to visit Cranfield University’s facilities including the Intelligent Mobility Engineering Centre (IMEC) and the Off-road Vehicle Dynamics Facility.

    IMEC Building (18:00 display) Vincent Auditorium (19:00 lecture) - Bedford
    Karl will start his talk at 19:00 in Vincent Auditorium but Interesting cars and bikes welcomed for display from 18:00 at IMEC Building. The lecture will cover Ferdinand Porsche's interest in hybrid drives, including the "Mixte", which he perfected over many decades and for which he received the Pötting Prize. Porsche used it to drive road trains, automobiles and ultimately in World War 2 a Tiger tank prototype, a tank destroyer and a 180-ton megatank.
