Welcome to the Cambridge Centre of the Biomedical Engineering Division (BmED)

The Cambridge Centre was created in September 2015 to establish the first regional presence of the Biomedical Engineering Division (BmED). This is following the same model as the Centres for the Automobile or Railway divisions.

The aim of the Centre is to provide relevant events to the biomedical engineering community in the greater Cambridge area.

This web site is gradually populated with up to date information. Please visit it again soon and tell your friends and colleagues about it.

Our 2016 events can still be found using the past events link on the left of this text.

In 2017, we managed to organise three of the four initially planned events. In March we heard about the University of Cambridge's Healthcare Design Toolkit. In September, we learnt about Dry Powder Inhalers, form David Harris, Specialist in Respiratory Drug Delivery at PA Consultants. And finally in December, we explored surgical robotics with  Chris Wagner, Head of Advanced Surgical Systems at Cambridge Consultants.

For 2018, we are aiming at 4 events again.

We are pleased to be collaborating with the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge for the first one which will be a one day Bioengineering conference to be help in Cambridge on 15 March 2018. Further details can be found here.

For any enquiries or if you would like to be become active in the centre or if you would like to propose a talk or visit for the 2018 event programme, please write to BmED_Cambridge@imechenearyou.org.

IMechE members who have selected Medicine and Health or one of its subsets in the Industry tab of their profile and have their address within our "catchment" (roughly East Anglia) and have selected "yes" to Email in the "Updates from member networks near you" in Mailing preferences will be notified of our events by email. Please take a moment to make sure your profile is up to date.

IMechE members and non members alike are warmly invited to follow us on social media (links on the right) where we also post our events and news.

If you are seeking to gain Professional Registration to EngTech, IEng or CEng, IMechE staff are running events in the region to assist you in the process (list of events here).

Best regards,
