Description
Andy Green, the driver of the Bloodhound supersonic car, will talk about the project to design and build the world’s first 1000mph car. Andy will also describe the huge education programme that is the reason behind the whole project.
Wing Commander Andy Green OBE BA is a distinguished pilot and RAF officer. He has held the World Land Speed record since 1997 and is the first (and only) person to break the sound barrier on land.
This is a rare opportunity to hear him speak locally. You, your friends and family are cordially invited to hear about this exciting and inspirational engineering project, and how they can get involved.
Refreshments served from 19.00. Talk starts at 19.30. Ends at 21.00 following discussion.

Parking

Parking around CUED tends to be difficult. There is limited parking on-site. This is reserved for the speaker, university staff, those with disabilities and our elderly members. If you have a disability that makes it difficult to walk, subject to availability you would be welcome to use one of these spaces.
There are cycle racks directly outside the entrance.
There is some on-street parking in Trumpington Street (by the Fitzwilliam Museum and Judge Business School), Trumpington Road (by the Botanic Gardens) and Lensfield Road (by the Chemistry Dept). Sometimes there are spaces along Brookside. There is no parking on Fen Causeway. Further afield, there is also some parking on Newham Road and Barton Road (past the Red Cow PH), Sidgwick Avenue and Queen's Road (along the Backs).
There is a private carpark behind the Royal Cambridge Hotel for hotel guests only; you will not be able to exit without paying for a token. Do not park in the Chemistry Dept carpark (unless you have an exit pass) or Leys School.
The nearest public multi-storey carparks are Grand Arcade and Queen Anne Terrace (see map), which are 0.5 mile and 10-15 minutes walk.
