The Regional Young Members Committee are inviting members and their guest to attend a Technical Visit to the United Utilities Waste Water Treatment Site in Liverpool to hear about the various upgrades that have taken place over the last couple of years.

United Utilities’ Waste Water Treatment Works at Sandon and Wellington Docks in Liverpool treats the waste water from a population equivalent of over 1 million people in the Liverpool area. The plant was originally constructed in the 1980s and has recently received a major refurbishment, with the addition of a new Sequence Batch Reactor (SBR) secondary treatment plant, associated sludge thickening facility and replacement of the main inlet pumps to the works.

The visit will last approximately 2 hours and will include a tour of the 16 cell two level sequence batch reactor (SBR) and the Inlet Works. Light refreshments will be available after the tour.

United Utilities will be able to provide visitors’ with the required PPE (helmets, glasses, gloves, hi-vis) however visitors are required to bring their own steel toe-capped safety boots. If you own helmet, glasses, gloves etc. United Utilities are happy for you to bring these along.

Please note that places are limited and attendees are required to book a ticket before attending for site access and health and safety.
