Become a STEM Ambassador!

STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and disciplines across the UK. They offer their time and enthusiasm to help bring STEM subjects to life and demonstrate the value of them in life and careers. IMechE encourage all our volunteers to register as a STEM Ambassador.

If you are a volunteer working on events involving schools here is an opportunity to register as a STEM Ambassador.

The North Wales Area committee have arranged an evening to allow our members in the North Wales Area to undertake training as well as start the process of STEM registration. Before signing up for this event, please ensure:

1.      Your home address has a North Wales Post Code

2.      You carry out the Pre-registration referred to below

3.      You prepare the necessary ID to bring along on the night, see below

To start the process, individuals require to pre-register on the STEM website. Here is the link: 

Once registered you will receive confirmation of your profile with a registration number which you can bring along to the event.

At the event, you will also need to bring a total of 3 x ID verifications chosen from a specific list of allowable documents.

A condensed version of the requirements is as follows:

3 x ID must be checked at the training – one with your current address NB: no online copies or photocopies

·         Current valid Passport

·         UK or EU Photo Driving Licence (full or provisional)

·         UK Birth Certificate issued within 12 months of birth

·         UK Biometric Residence Card

·         Adoption certificate

o      EU / EEA National ID card

o      Non UK / EU Driving Licence

o      Paper version Driving licence (UK / EEA)

o      Birth certificate issued >12 months after birth

o      Bank, building society or credit card statements  <3 months old

o      Utility bills (water / gas /electricity / landline phone bill) <3 months old

o      Council Tax statements <1 year old

o      Marriage or Civil Partnership certificate UK / Channel Islands

o      Financial statements (pensions / isa etc) < 1 year old

o      Bank account opening letter UK

o      Mortgage statement <1 year old

o      P45 or P60 <1 year old

o      Documents from Central or Local Government or Government Agency <3 months old

o      HM Forces ID card

o      Firearms licence within expiry date

o      Work permit /visa valid expiry date UK

o      Cards with PASS accreditation logo



The training and the review of IDs will be carried out by Keith Jones of See-Science the STEM coordinating team for Wales.

Light refreshments will be provided on the evening.
