Biomedical Engineering  is the art of using engineering to solve complex healthcare problems and is a rapidly growing field of engineering.

The IMechE Birmingham Young Members Panel invites you to an evening with Dr Naomi Green, where she will be giving a talk  on her experience as a Biomedical Engineer and the exciting projects she has been priviledged to work on.

Dr Naomi Green is a biomedical engineer and award winning science communicator, with 15 years' experience in industry and academia. She works as a researcher at the University of Birmingham in the area of translational medicine, working with local SMEs to help them design and manufacture medical devices, and get them into clinical practice. Naomi has a passion for encouraging young people into the engineering profession and engaging them in STEM. She is also dedicated to increasing the diversity of the engineering workforce and reaching underrepresented groups to help fill the engineering skills gap. She is a co-founder of BrumSciComm a regional network for science communicators and the Midlands cluster lead for the Women’s Engineering Society.

 

There will be a tour of the University of Birmingham Biomedical Engineering Laboratory after the talk.

Refreshments and networking will begin at 6pm with the talk to start at 6:30pm.
