Description

Established some 20 years before its German counterpart, Siemens Bros Ltd was a Blue Chip British Company. Under the stewardship of its founder Wilhelm von Siemens (later becoming Sir William Siemens) it was involved in the development of just about every aspect of the 19th century's embryonic and fledgling electrical industry. This presentation takes a look at the development and production of electricity, and of perhaps more importance, its applications via the early activities of the Siemens company.

This lecture has been organised by the Stoke-on-Trent Association of Engineers and is a joint meeting with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers
