This event has finished

Sam Wane has been passionate about robots since being a small child. After obtaining a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering with Robotics, he helped to develop a robot feeder for the disabled-this was sold worldwide as the ‘Handy-1’.

He then moved companies and worked on the development of ‘Tracker’, a GPS enabled vehicle location security device.

After that he spent two years at McVitie’s, developing cracker packing robots before becoming a lecturer in robotics at Staffordshire University for 14 years and moving to specialise in agricultural robotics at Harper Adams University three years ago.

He has worked on a laser weeding system, a self-driving robot, and developed a highly successful summer school in robotics.

He is passionate about getting young people interested in engineering through robots and has talked extensively in schools, professional bodies, and conferences about his work.

Sam is a chartered engineer, and is responsible for a masters degree in advanced mechatronics based at Harper Adams University.
