Keeping “the punch in the Army’s fist” the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) provide the Engineering Support that maintains the British Army’s equipment, from rifles and radios to tanks and helicopters.  1 Close Support Battalion REME, based in Catterick Garrison are one of 8 REME Battalions in the British Army, providing more in depth repair and supporting front line units.  With 2 mobile workshop facilities and a wide range of trades ranging from mechanics and welders to logisticians, drivers and managers, 1 CS Bn is a capable, fully deployable unit ready for whatever the future holds.

For SatNav users, once at the Garrison, DO NOT follow the SatNav, but follow the Military signs for Megiddo Lines and report to the Gatehouse

The Commanding Officer of 1CS Battalion REME will give a brief on the unit followed by the opportunity for members to tour the workshops. This will be followed by lunch in the WOs’ and Sgts’ Mess.
