IMechE North East Region Hold Another Successful Annual Dinner

The North East Region of the Institution held their 2014 Annual Dinner at Hardwick Hall on Friday 25th April.

Our sponsors, to whom we are very grateful, entertained their guests at 18 corporate tables whilst 60 IMechE members and their guests filled another six Institution tables. 27 members from our record intake of new members in the North East this year, received their credentials from the Institution President, Patrick Kniveton.

The 244 diners were entertained by speeches from Bill Giles, the ex BBC weather presenter, Maria Healey, from this year’s nominated charity, Mind and Patrick Kniveton.

A total of £2,300 was raised for Mind during the evening and we are grateful to everyone present for this magnificent achievement.

We look forward to welcoming back our sponsors, and even more members, to next year’s event which will be held on Friday 17th April 2015.

Mark Jackson CEng, FIMechE has been appointed as the next chairman of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers North East Region.

Mark Jackson, a member of the IMechE since 1995, will take over the role of the outgoing chair Scott Taylor.

"I am very thrilled to be taking up this exciting role," said Mark. "IMechE is extremely committed to promoting engineering and inspiring the next generation of engineers in this region.”

"I would also like to thank Scott Taylor for his brilliant performance, during his time as chair, he helped IMechE maintain its core theme, and establish itself as a leading champion for the North East."

"I am very pleased to accept this opportunity to support our Institution. In my time as chair I intend to give the regional members the opportunity to have their say and to make the most of their professional body. I am keen to hear from anyone who is in a position to help and to make this region one of the most progressive in the country.”

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, North East region made this announcement at a regional meeting held yesterday at the Bowburn Hall Hotel, Durham.
