Welcome to the North Western Young Members Panel

The panel regularly organise a number of annual events, including the Team Challenge (annually in November) and the prestigious North Western Region Annual Dinner (April / May) which was one the highlights of our 2014 calender. The Annual Dinner was even bigger and better this year, it was held at The Palace Hotel in Manchester, attracted over 150 engineers and scientists from the region and followed an Educational Extravaganza at MOSI during the day, attended by around 90 students
During 2014/2015 we hope to build on the success of previous years. We have more industry visits planned and are excited to get even more young members involved.

So, why become involved with your local panel or attend events?

1. As young developing engineers it can seem difficult to gain the experience required for professional registration, whether that be CEng or IEng, particularly when it comes to demonstrating leadership and organisational skills. Being part of your local panel and organising events and promoting engineering across the region goes well to prove UK-Spec competency E.

2. The potential for developing your own network of contacts within the industry and raising your profile within your own company; as an active IMechE member you will be seen as someone who can make things happen, is proactive, and isn't afraid to stick their head above water.

3. Finally, you will meet like-minded people who actually ENJOY promoting engineering and its importance in our society!

If you think that you would like to get involved feel free to contact either myself or our secretary, Amy Turner, for more details. If you still like what you hear why not come along to our next committee meeting, normally held on the first Tuesday of the month, and see for yourself!

Hope to speak to you soon,

Jen Nair
