Description

BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL TO ENSURE PRE-REGISTRATION OF ATTENDEES

The National College for Nuclear hub at Lakes College is one of the two NCfN centres.  The visit is an opportunity for members and others in the local engineering community to see the new building, which will have been officially opened only one week earlier.  An introduction to the work of the National College in up-skilling members of the nuclear workforce throughout the country will lead into a tour of the facilities, including the virtual reality theatre, the IT facilities, the Nuclear Science laboratory and the Chemistry Laboratory and the Large Equipment/ Project Space.

The visit enables members to learn about its range of courses, delivered in a mode designed for rapid learning that will be adaptable to suit most workers in the nuclear industry and its supply chain.

Paul Fairclough is the Director of Education for both sites (Workington and Bridgwater) of the National College for Nuclear.  He has been responsible over the past 30 years for several innovative course combining study and work experience, mostly supported by Sellafield and other companies in the industry.  He is a fellow of the Institute of Measurement and Control.  His areas of special interest are robotics, micro-electronics and embedded systems.

The visit will commence at 18:30hrs with refreshments available from 18:00hrs

All attendees are asked to report directly to the NCfN’s reception (NOT LAKES COLLEGE RECEPTION). There is parking for approx. 40 vehicles at NCfN, however the NCfN is accessible from the main Lakes College car park.
