    Almost a century after Henry Ford made petrol powered car ownership commonplace, the basic components (e.g. spark plugs, crankshaft, distributor) and performance measures (e.g. mpg, hp) of internal combustions engines are familiar to motorist around the world. But electric cars require a different language of kWh, MPGe, charge rates and battery management systems.

    The NHS-SMART Centre provides a wide range of rehabilitation technology services for the South East of Scotland, covering Lothian, Fife and the Borders. These include mobility and postural services (wheelchairs and special seating), prosthetics, orthotics, bioengineering services (artificial limbs and special equipment), electronic assistive technologies, custom design services, a disabled living centre and gait analysis services.
