2016 / 2017 PROGRAMME

We hope you will find our 2016/17 programme to be varied, topical and relevant.

Much of our programme is concerned with the continuing development of its railway and rolling stock, including the Scottish electrification programme, ScotRail’s new High Speed Trains, the transformation of Craigentinny depot, new Glasgow Subway trains and smart ticketing. Other presentations include our Chairman’s address by Richard East about the industry's development and investment on future projects; engineering solutions to weather challenges and, looking beyond the rail industry, the engineering comparisons of bus, rail and tram.

Lastly, but certainly not least, we have the Scottish Developing Professional’s Presentation Competition which is jointly run by all the professional railway bodies in Scotland and is a great way to support those new to the industry who are developing their careers.

After our events wine and nibbles are served providing an excellent opportunity to chat informally to presenters and network with colleagues from a wide range of engineering companies. If you have a technical interest in railways, do come to one of our events. New members are particularly welcome. We encourage active participation and would be glad to hear your ideas, particularly for next season’s events so we would be glad to hear from you at rdscotland@imechenetwork.org with ideas for future events or if you wish to be added to our email distribution list.
