Business Development Manager

Sandra Mulligan has been the Business Development Manager for Scotland since 2000. Sandra acts as IMechE’s primary link with organisations in industry and academia, developing and supporting the engineering community whilst maintaining strong links with a network of key contacts. Sandra also provides strategic guidance to the active members across the Regions.

Sandra provides guidance to those who want to become professionally registered or for those looking to progress up our membership grades towards Fellowship.

The Institution awards Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status to suitably qualified experienced applicants. We also understand the importance of supporting engineers who are just starting out on their academic and career paths with Affiliate and Associate membership options

Locally run workshops, seminars and events tell you everything you need to know about professional registration.  They cover everything from an introduction to registration, to how to meet the requirements for each type of registration or how to put together an application.

These workshops can be tailored to a company and their employees needs and can be hosted in-house. Feedback on Professional Review Reports or applications prior to submission can also be provided free of charge.  Please get in touch if this would be of interest to you.

The IMechE has join up with each of the three Armed Forces and now provides a simplified route to registration, via a streamlined application process. The relationship with the Armed Forces is managed by Armed Forces Business Development Executive, Neil Hinchliffe.

Company Based Registration

CBR is the perfect process for supporting an engineering team, within a company, through the professional registration process. The Institution offers a supported and aided Company Based Registration (CBR) scheme.
The scheme provides a Business Development Manager to your site to present the ‘benefits of’ and ‘how to’ regarding professional registration.

Suitable applicants will then be supported through the process step by step, with 1-2-1 advice sessions and interview preparation workshops.
An application review services from a Professional Development Consultant (PDC) is also available.

Interviews for those who successfully progress through the application process can then be arranged on site, to ensure minimum disruption to business operation.

There is no cost for running the CBR scheme described above, the only cost is the applicants own application fee and annual membership subscription.

Support for Graduates and Apprentices

Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS) is the Institutions quality assured route for graduate engineers to gain the competence required to successfully achieve registration as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.

We accredit company training schemes to ensure that developing engineers are provided with the right opportunities, monitoring and feedback in the workplace to make a successful application as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.

The Institution approves advanced engineering apprentice training schemes within Companies, Colleges and Training providers. There is no fee for doing this and it will make the application process for your apprentices much more straightforward, as we’ll already know what skills and experience they have gained.
The aim being, to make it as simple as possible for apprentices to benefit from the extra endorsement of their skills that professional registration EngTech provides.

If you would like a visit to your organisation or support with your application, Sandra can be contacted on 07887 931690 or s_mulligan@imeche.org.
