Description
As our last visit in July had to be postponed, the Inverness IMechE Young Members’ Panel has re-arranged a visit to the Falkirk Wheel on Saturday, 30th October 2010.
The visit will include a tour of the wheel and its workings and a boat trip up and down the wheel.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see a unique engineering masterpiece. The Falkirk wheel was officially opened in 2002 to commemorate the millennium. It reconnects the Union and Clyde canals after the previous connection was decommissioned in 1933. It is the world’s first and only rotating boat lift.
It is not necessary to be a member of the IMechE to attend; however spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to attend this event please register interest by Friday 15th October by emailing kyle.liptrot@googlemail.com or contacting myself on 07745 556816 to secure your place.
We plan to meet at the Falkirk Wheel at 11.30am. Final transport arrangements will be communicated once event numbers have been confirmed. There may be a small charge associated with this visit but the panel aims to cover this cost.
This is a fantastic opportunity to visit an engineering icon of our age.
We look forward to hearing from you.
