V&A Dundee – Engineering & Design for Business

Date:       Thursday, 22 February 2018

Time:      6:30pm Talk (Refreshments in foyer from 6:00pm)
Venue:    University of Dundee, Dalhousie Building, Lecture Theatre 4

John TAVENDALE is the Turner & Townsend Project Manager who has led the construction of the Kengo Kuma designed building.  John is an architect by training who has project managed the design and development of many and varied buildings in Dundee and the North East, though nothing quite as challenging as V&A Dundee!

John will share with us his amazing journey of realising this fantastic building, a unique journey which has required him to draw on his 30 years of experience and reach, in his view “the pinnacle of his career”.   Involving new and innovative technologies and complex construction sequences, it is engineering at the cutting edge and a global first.

Andrew cameron is Programme Manager for V&A Dundee’s Design for Business programme. This ambitious national programme seeks to help Scottish businesses unlock innovation through the everyday application of design process. Andrew comes from an engineering and business background having worked with global technology providers for over 25 years.

Andrew will explore how our contemporary understanding of design process has led to a revolution in design thinking. A revolution where design principles can be applied by any business to address everyday problems in creative and innovative ways, and how V&A Dundee aims to use this to support Scotland’s future economic growth.
