In the 29 months since Stuart Justice last spoke to the Area Membership a lot of aircraft carrier has passed under the Forth Bridges. HMS Queen Elizabeth is now in commission and is on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States about to commence fixed wing flying trials. Prince of Wales is afloat in the non-tidal basin in Rosyth undergoing fitting out and commissioning. She is expected to sail on sea trials in approximately 12 months
With so much ill-informed opinion on the Carrier Programme in circulation, it is an education and a pleasure to hear from an established senior member of the Engineering Build Team. Construction, commissioning, safety, finance, sea trials, what went well, what went not so well, how difficulties were overcome, lessons identified. Stuart has updated and upgraded his presentation and will be taking questions.
