In 2019 the Natural Resources Institute will celebrate 125 years since it was created as "The Imperial Institute" at the behest of Prince Albert. Prof. Andrew Westby, Director and expert on Cassava, will explain some of the complicated history of the Institute and its predecessor organisations, highlight some globally important scientific contributions and explain the exciting work that NRI does today to contribute towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

Professor Andrew Westby has been the Director of NRI since May 2010. As a principal investigator and researcher, Andrew has travelled extensively across the world working on collaborative projects from counterparts in all continents.
