PROJECT APOLLO, a Step and Leap to the Moon.

 

The American President John F Kennedy, 1961, "this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before the decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth." The Apollo Programme was born…

 

July 20, 1969, the crew of Apollo 11 achieved that goal.

 

Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon, he said, "That's one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind."

 

To mark the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the Moon, David’s talk will cover the Apollo Programme, the challenges, the difficulties, and the successes…

 

 

Please arrive at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start.

 

Free parking is available at the college.

Speaker(s)

Our speaker Dr David Baker worked with NASA for many years on the Gemini, Apollo and Shuttle programmes between 1965 and 1990. Today he is a successful author having written more than 100 books on spaceflight technology.
