    Professor William Powrie of Southampton University presents research from the £8.5m research programme: ‘Track to the Future’. The talk will discuss recent developments in understanding of railway track performance, and how these might be incorporated into design and practice. Topics covered will include reducing ballast settlement and the targeted maintenance of problem areas and isolated defects.

    The Young Members have organised a social karting event in Crawley. Please join us for a mini-grand prix with trophies: 2 x 15 minute – 5 minute practice leads straight into a 10 minute qualifying session, the race is a 15 minute sprint to the chequered flag.     London Underground Head Office (Tube: St James's Park) - London
    Andy Grundy, Head of Fleet Management and Stores, Direct Rail Services presents the Class 88 bi-mode locomotive. Hear about these locomotives with true dual mode, the Class 88 has ‘genuine mixed traffic haulage capabilities. All evenings start at 17:30 with tea, coffee and biscuits. Lectures commence at 18:00 for approximately one hour with questions afterwards. Refreshments are served after each lecture with an opportunity for networking and to meet the speaker
