Mark’s talk will discuss the meaning of the fourth industrial revolution, it’s potential impact across Engineering and particularly manufacturing, and the UK government’s response to this through the 2017 review.

This independent review of industrial digitalisation was led by Professor Juergen Maier, CEO Siemens UK.The review sets out how UK manufacturing can be transformed through the adoption of industrial digital technology (IDT).

The report claims that over 10 years industrial digitalisation could boost UK manufacturing by £455bn, increasing sector growth up to 3% per year, and creating a net gain of 175,000 jobs whilst reducing CO2 emissions by 4.5%!

The talk will summarise the key findings from the report, and what this may mean for local engineering companies and manufacturers.
