Cliff will be drawing on his rich history in the UK rail industry to talk about how safety has been improved. All evenings start at 17:30 with tea, coffee and biscuits.Lectures commence at 18:00 for approximately one hour with questions afterwards.Refreshments are served after each lecture with an opportunity for networking and to meet the speaker

    The Sundarbans of Bangladesh – A UNESCO World heritage site This presentation gives an overview of the importance and significances of this status and why the Sundarban region is of universal global importance. The IMechE motto – Improving the world through Engineering will be explored to preserve and improve important regions such as the Sundarbans and presented by Dr Khosru Rahman the Kent area chairman.

    High Salvington Windmill is an excellent example of a working post mill dating from approximately 1750.The mill has been extensively restored and was able to restart grinding in 1991. The tour will be led by two experience guides that have extensive knowledge about the restoration of the mill and its continued maintenance. Tea/Coffee and cake is included in the price of the ticket.

    The Speak Out for Engineering (SofE) competition is organised annually by the IMechE's local volunteer groups. It was originally established in 1964 to challenge young engineers to prove they could "communicate effectively", which is still an important area in developing engineers today.
