Description

Nuclear powered submarines are the most complex engineering machines on earth.  However the fundamental concept of a submarine and the way they operate, has changed little since the first Royal Navy submarine entered service in 1901.

This lecture will show how advances in technologies associated with topic, including sensing, automation and machine interaction, has the potential to revolutionise the submarine of the future; and how these changes could alter the way submarines operate.

This lecture will follow the AGM of the F&G Area IMechE committee.
