Welcome to the Portsmouth and Isle of Wight Area

Part of the Wessex Region, we pride ourselves on supporting the interests of our members.

We aim to organise approximately twelve events throughout the year, whether they are technical lectures, visits, luncheon club lectures or committee meetings.  Our events are focussed on the many and varied interests / expertise of our Area Members and planned events include visits to Jim Stokes Workshop and Bordon Garrison and a technical lecture within The Explosion Museum.  Please monitor our Near You Events page for details of our upcoming events.

Currently there is no separate Young Members Panel although the Area is investigating the feasibility of developing closer links with Portsmouth University Engineering Faculty.  If you are a Portsmouth University Engineering Faculty Student or Researcher who is interested in supporting the Area Committee please contact the Chair or Secretary.

As an Area we actively support our members attain higher grades of membership, please contact the Chair or Secretary for advice / guidance at any time.  We also aim to host a ‘Get Registered’ Event where more formal guidance is provided by the IMechE Business Development Management Team.  Please monitor our Near You Events page for details of our next ‘Get Registered’ Event.

We are always looking to members to assist with the Area committee, if you are interested, please contact the Chair or Secretary to find out more about the roles.  The Area is particularly interested in broadening its educational outreach, including the nomination of an Education Officer to our Committee, so again please contact the Chair or Secretary if you are interested.
