Description

Chris Todd will present an overview of a project to “walk” 66 miles across the Irish Sea. 

He will cover the background to the idea, the technical challenges of the design and development of the craft used to attempt the crossing, including the craft performance optimisation.  The presentation will also cover the physical training, planning and logistics involved in the challenge and will conclude with details of the crossing attempt that took place in October 2012, including a look at what went wrong!

Refreshments from 18:00. Lecture commence at 18:30.

Chris Todd spent 4 years working as a design engineer at Rolls-Royce. He now works as a Flight Physics Engineer at QinetiQ Boscombe Down. In his spare time Chris enjoys taking part in outdoor endurance events.
