This is an active and well subscribed forum,  that is run informally and flexibly to suit the interests of our members in the area.

I have recently taken over the role of Area Chair, as Simon Whaley steps down in anticipation of further work commitments in the future. I would like to thank Simon for the past year of leadership of the committee and hope to continue his success.

We organise a programme of regular events and visits that are intended to be of interest to our members and non members. Everyone is welcome!

Our events feature lectures by high profile speaker (industry leaders, Professors and advocates of our field), and are always on a subject of great interest to both engineers and non-engineers, followed by a light buffet reception with wine and soft drinks. Visits are to local sites of engineering interest, and offer a rare insight into the technology on our doorstep.

Every year we also aim to include a careers evening called 'Get Registered', to provide clear and useful details on the route to becoming chartered. We are very keen to promote membership and to encourage young engineers and engineering students to get involved.

If you have any ideas for events or would like to become involved in running the branch please contact any of the committee or approach us at one of our events.

Best regards
