Description

The Energy Hierarchy is a powerful tool for understanding and prioritising measures to approach and achieve energy sustainability. It was developed by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in the early 2000s and formalised as a Policy Statement in 2009, upon which it has been embraced by numerous institutions and universities around the world.

By prioritising energy demand reduction and energy efficiency, the Energy Hierarchy provides clear actions to reduce and eliminate unsustainable energy use and wastage. Had it been adopted by the UK Government a decade ago, UK energy policy would be much more robust and it is far more likely that 2020 targets would have been reached.

At this time of global climate crisis, it is more important than ever that the Energy Hierarchy is used worldwide to ensure a sustainable future for the planet.

Following the relaunch of the Energy Hierarchy by the Institution, join this webinar to reflect on the achievements of the last ten years, understand how the hierarchy is best implemented and identify its potential for the future.
