Description

This Joint IMechE and RAeS Event.

Turbofan engines are complex machines, yet are expected to operate extremely reliably for years with minimal maintenance. To resolve these conflicting requirements, Engine Health Management (EHM) systems are used to detect potential problems and take appropriate action. This lecture will explain how these EHM systems work and describe some of the new developments that Rolls-Royce have made to those systems fitted to the Trent 900 on the A380 and Trent 1000 on the B787.
