This event has finished
In 2008 North Down Borough Council installed an 800kW wind turbine at Balloo Wood in Bangor, Co Down to supply electricity to its nearby Waste Transfer Facility on Balloo Dive. When the turbine supplies more electricity than is required by the facility the excess is exported to the Grid and sold to the Council's Electricity supplier. The visit will start at the Recycling and Environmental Education centre at 3:30pm and Council Technical Officers, Mr Tommy Taylor and Mr Geoff Allen will explain the history of the project and how the turbine has performed since commissioning in terms of its energy generation and financial performance. This will be followed by a visit on foot to the turbine which is some 150m from the Facility. The event with a finish just before 5 pm.
