Lecture Centre A | 19 January 2011 18:00 to 18:30
Event type: Schools/Colleges/University Events
This presentation will give an indication of what’s meant by vehicle integration, the basics of cell chemistries and the key characteristics that need to be understood in order to specify a battery pack for vehicle applications.
The presentation will particularly focus on some of the design considerations for how a pack is integrated into 2 very different vehicles – a fuel cell series hybrid London Taxi and a high performance series hybrid Lotus Evora sportscar.
Industry sector: Automotive.

The A34 Wolvercote viaduct carries a dual-carriageway across a river, a railway line and the A40. The previous structure was built in the early 60s and needed to be replaced. Phased demolition and construction had to be carried out while maintaining traffic flow. A new east carriageway was constructed alongside the existing viaduct. Following demolition of the old carriageway the new structure (254 m long and weighing 5000 tonnes) was skidded sideways 16.6 m using hydraulics.
