On 15th December 2010, the BAE Systems Harrier GR9 fleet was officially retired from service by the Royal Air Force. It's been over 40 years since the GR1 variant became operational with the RAF and during that time the aircraft has proved its capability in theatres throughout the world, including the Falklands, Iraq, Kosovo and, most recently, Afghanistan.
Commander Adrian Orchard RN will be giving us fascinating lecture on how the Harrier was used in Afghanistan, and the expertise required
