As our last visit in July had to be postponed, the Inverness IMechE Young Members’ Panel has re-arranged a visit to the Falkirk Wheel on Saturday, 30th October 2010.
The visit will include a tour of the wheel and its workings and a boat trip up and down the wheel.

Tour of the ‘Cathedral’ at Honister Slate Mine, the only working slate mine in the UK. Famous for its Westmorland Green Slate.
A bespoke Cathedral Mine Tour of the working mine. During the tour, you’ll see some of the enormous caverns and learn how they extract and process the slate using a mixture of modern and traditional techniques. Helmets and lamps are provided and the whole tour normally lasts around 1½ hours.
