A tour of the history and workings of Richmond lock. Technically, Richmond Lock is a half-tide lock and barrage, which also incorporates a public footbridge. For about two hours each side of high tide, the sluice gates which make up the barrage are raised into the footbridge structure above, and river traffic can pass through the barrage unimpeded. There are a limited number of places to take the guided tour of this historic structure, so please confirm your interest using the booking form.
