Summary:
With the growing attention on sustainable development, the society is prioritizing the energy as one of the key agendas we all had to confront with. The prevalence of the electric vehicle and the solar energy had aroused the discussion of electricity storage. In this webinar, the background of the electricity storage by battery, the challenges, innovations and impacts would be discussed.

Speaker information:
Prof. Qing Chen is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Chemistry, HKUST. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Energy Institute at HKUST. Prof. Chen’s research mainly concerns the development of advanced materials for grid-scale energy storage, and the understanding of structural evolution of metals in electrochemical processes. He has published work on lithium-ion and redox-flow batteries in journals including Science and Nature Materials, and collaborated closely with industry in a range of research projects.
