Furthest South Engineering Heritage Award

In January 2014 the Oceania Region committee and the New Zealand county representative hosted the 91st Engineering Heritage Award presentation in Dunedin at the southerly tip of the South Island.  The award was made for the Armstrong Disappearing Gun, the only fully-restored example of this type of gun still in its original emplacement.

Future Oceania Young Leaders

In late 2013 the North East Asia Region hosted the EngNow 360 leadership conference. This was a four day event with the focus of empowering the next generation of Young Engineering Leaders. Held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, it was attended by over 400 people.
The Oceania region was represented by eight volunteers, including the Oceania Region Chairman and Oceania Young Member Rep. EngNow360 had three distinct activities; the 2013 Pan-Asia-Pacific Region Speak Out for Engineering Final, a Design Competition to improve the world of the Visually Impaired, and a two day lecture series focussed on leadership. There is a write up in the Australian Branch News Bulletin 169, and some pictures below;
The International Strategy Board has pencilled in Spain to host the next EngNow event in 2015 - watch this space!
