Description

Engineering controls are often the most practical and effective means of reducing workforce noise. Despite the potential to make a difference, noise control programs can stall because the information necessary to proceed with design and implementation is challenging to obtain or not available.

Engineers tasked with designing and implementing noise controls need to understand:
The contribution of equipment noise sources to area noise levels and workforce exposure;
Constraints on the design imposed by safety, integrity, equipment operation and maintenance, accessibility and process performance; and
Priorities for implementation.

This presentation will describe the information needed to design and implement engineering noise controls, and explore methods for obtaining it in the resources and energy industries.
