Description
Industry, regulatory and market trends clearly point to LNG as the next generation fuel for the maritime sector. LNG propulsion for ships is technically feasible,
has an excellent safety track record
and there is a business case supporting it;
however there are still a number of challenges to overcome before it will go mainstream. This technical talk will address the points above and present the main options and opportunities the maritime industry has to consider in the near future.

Dr. Lorenzo is a Chartered Engineer with more than 20 years' business experience. Prior to joining DNV in 2008, he was an Officer in the Italian Navy for nine years, an International Observer for the United Nations (IMO) for six years, a Principal Advisor to the Italian Parliament for five years and the President of the Shipping Professional Network in London for four. In DNV, Lorenzo has lead project teams in delivering a wide range of management consultancy and technical advisory projects, including: energy management and fuel efficiency programs for leading shipping companies as well as devising solutions for the adoption of LNG as a fuel for shipping.
Dr Lorenzo has a PhD from the University College London and a CSE from London Business School. Prior to his education in the UK, he got his MSc in Naval Architecture and Marine & Environmental Engineering from University of Trieste and a BSc in Diplomatic and Military Science from the Italian Naval Academy.
