With rapid advancement of knowledge economy, engineers need to innovate in order to stay ahead of competition, both for themselves and their employers. Besides, engineers are also encouraged to evaluate, improve and develop technologies continuously so that new markets and customers can be secured. Patenting has become critical for extracting commercial value from newly developed technologies and products. The present talks equips engineers with some basic knowledge and skills so that engineers will know how to protect and extract commercial values from technical innovations.
