 mon building materials and household waste!&nbsp\; Why?&nbsp\; Because in 
 remote parts of the world\, where mains water is not available\, this simp
 le device can make the difference between life and death by providing acce
 ss to safe drinking water.\n\nThis "rope-washer pump" of pump is often use
 d in disaster recovery situations\, or in remote parts of the world where 
 access to workshop facilities is limited.&nbsp\; It really captures the im
 agination of everyone who sees it!\nThe pump will be driven by a bicycle (
 supplied by Rockets and Rascals)\, which participants will have the opport
 unity to &lsquo\;ride&rsquo\;.&nbsp\; There will be a competition to see w
 ho can pump the most water in a minute!\nThe pump was designed and built b
 y volunteers from the IMechE and EWB and it was sponsored by Babcock Inter
