More d etails are available at technologyforfun.co.uk\n\nDescription : \nIn order to enthuse the next generation\, the IMechE is looking for members to run a fun engineering activity in primary school. The electric fan boats acti vity was developed by IMechE Fellow and STEM educator Caroline Alliston (s ee www.technologyforfun.co.uk). Pupils will design\, build and test their models\, whilst applying their understanding of electricity\, forces and m aterials from the primary curriculum. \nHere is a quote from a head teache r: &ldquo\;Absolutely brilliant! \;The children's squeals of delight w hen they launched their boats was a moment not to be missed. The children said they had 'the best day ever'. They were talking about streamlining an d modifying their models and were obviously gripped by the experience.&rdq uo\; \nVolunteers can work with a school of their choice\, or be matched t o a school. During the training session they get to design\, build and tes t their own fan boat and learn how to conduct the activity in class. Class packs are provided for up to 30 children to construct boats\, working in pairs.
