  volunteers seeking to enthuse future engineers in Primary Schools.  More

 r to enthuse the next generation\, engineers are sought to run a fun engin
 eering activity in a primary school of their choice. The electric fan boat
 s activity was developed by IMechE Fellow and STEM educator Caroline Allis
 ton (see www.technologyforfun.co.uk). \n\nPupils will design\, build and t
 est their models\, whilst applying their understanding of electricity\, fo
 rces and materials from the primary curriculum.  Here is a quote from a he
 ad teacher: &ldquo\;Absolutely brilliant!&nbsp\;The children's squeals of 
 delight when they launched their boats was a moment not to be missed. The 
 children said they had 'the best day ever'. &nbsp\;They were talking about
  streamlining and modifying their models and were obviously gripped by the
  experience.&rdquo\; \n\nDuring the training session engineers get to desi
 gn\, build and test their own fan boat and learn how to conduct the activi
 ty in class. Class packs are provided for up to 30 children to construct b
 oats\, working in pairs. Volunteers will be accompanied by a teacher at al
 l times and will not be expected to control a class on their own!\nBristol
