 , part of Acteon Group. He is a Chartered Engineer with over 25 years’ exp
 erience in the Oil\, Gas and Offshore industry.\n\nDescription : \n\nClaxt
 on partnering with the National Decommissioning Centre\, the University of
  Aberdeen and the Net Zero Technology Centre\, have been developing an und
 erwater laser cutting solution. This involves interfacing a 15kW industria
 l laser system to a custom designed subsea laser cutting head with associa
 ted intelligent control and monitoring system with electronic motion contr
 ol. This will offer a feasible alternative to conventional cutting methods
 \, bringing a low-carbon\, quick and clean underwater cutting technology t
 o the decommissioning market.\n\nThis lecture will outline the cutting sys
 tem and describe how laser cutting can be conducted underwater. It will su
 mmarise the results of successful cutting trials\, both tank testing at th
 e NDC and in deeper water at Loch Kishorn on the Scottish West Coast. It w
 ill describe the various benefits of such a system and will describe the w
 ork currently being done to productionise and further develop the system f
 or both offshore industry decommissioning and also for nuclear decommissio
 ning\, including evaluation work being performed for use at active US Nucl
